The Stargazer to the Rescue: A sculpture and six artists to help the Mediterranean

PILMA calls on artists and designers to reinterpret Robert Llimós’ iconic floating esculpture Stargazer, in catalan, “Miraestels”,

The interventions of Claret Serrahima, Lyona, Cristina Daura, Maria Corte, Julia Solans and José Luis Merino on the sculpture by Robert Llimós will be part of a solidarity sale whose funds will go to Proactiva Open Arms.
On 12 July, the works of the different ambassadors will be unveiled and the kick-off will be given to the solidarity sale.

Barcelona, July 2018 – Pilma, the firm specialising in design furniture and interior decoration with over 40 years of experience, has launched the Stargazer to the Rescue initiative, an action for which they will have the support of Robert Llimós, author of Stargazer, ambassadors from the world of design and art in Barcelona and the NGO Proactiva Open Arms, which helps refugees.

The challenge
Claret Serrahima, Julia Solans, Maria Corte, José Luis Merino, Lyona and Cristina Daura will be in charge of paying tribute to the sculpture by Robert Llimós, in a reinterpretation that will have the Mediterranean Sea as its central axis. This link is key, and it is that the profits collected from the solidarity sale of the six Stargazer will go to Proactiva Open Arms.

To carry out their tribute the artists have had their own Stargazer, which has served as a blank canvas to capture their personal vision of Stargazer as a watchman of the sea and life. The Mediterranean of encounters between ancient peoples, a sea of legends, history and culture, which today, particularly punished at the hands of excess, is in grave danger and launches a call for help, has been his inspiration in this intervention on the Stargazer.

A very supportive exhibition
July 12 is the date chosen to present the exhibition Stargazer to the Rescue, in which you can see the works of the 6 ambassadors who have participated in this special action. The pieces, a tribute and reinterpretation of the Stargazer of Llimós, will be on sale on 12 July.
In the presentation that will take place at 19:00 in the shop Pilma of Diagonal 403, will take place the interventions of Robert Llimós, PILMA and Proactiva Open Arms, that will share with the assistants the work that they make from the NGO. In addition, the different ambassadors will have the opportunity to tell about the creative process that their Stargazer has gone through.
With this action, PILMA aims to join forces in the world of design and art to help Proactiva Open Arms, helping the NGO to continue its tireless work in the Mediterranean.
